Adding Johnson R to rubin_sim?

We in the Sorcha team are using rubin_sim as part of our demo notebooks to show how a user could convert a measured reflectance spectrum of a given solar system object to LSST colours. As part of this demo notebook we also validate at the end that it the resulting SED matches reported Johnson V-R colours for that object. Currently I just have a Johnson R filter .dat file I got from SVO to compare (rubin_sim only contains Johnson UBV), but for convenience sake would it be possible to bundle in an R band .dat file with rubin_sim in future? Thanks!

Sure, that should be easy. I figure I’ll add the “generic” Johnson R and I from SVO.

Did you resolve the issue? I have a similar problem. I’m getting this error: The throughput file /home/raudo/rubin_sim_data/throughputs/johnson/johnson_R.dat does not exist

We have cousins_R.dat in there now. Someone pointed out that while Johnson R technically exists, folks usually want Cousins.
