Community Interactions, Meetings and Workshops
DM scientist attended the Astroinformatics 2024 conference, gave a talk on the RSP, and participated in a panel discussion.
DM supported the scheduled workshop Dec 16.
Technical Progress
The UWS infrastructure, a Virtual Observatory standard that is extensively used throughout Rubin Science Platform services for job management, was upgraded to better deal with load and operational robustness. Core components of the Rubin Science Platform have been instrumented to generate metrics that can be used to measure the capabilities that will be required for verification and validation. Scale-test campaigns to gather those metrics will start in January.
The Alert Production pipeline ran successfully each night appropriate data was taken with ComCam. A new full-pipeline timing metric was deployed, and captured performance improvements in production with ComCam. We continued commissioning/optimizing the pipelines for ComCam, to minimize the contribution of algorithms to the science quality metrics to reveal the capability of the as built Rubin system.
Butler repositories at base, Tucson Test Stand and Summit have been upgraded.
Delivered S3 storage for Summit. It is the first fully encrypted (OS and Ceph) device inside the Pixel Zone. The total size of the cluster is ~5PB with 2000 cores and 6TB of RAM.
The Tucson Test Stand was upgraded, increasing the node count and improving the network connectivity. The cluster was also encrypted and upgraded to rke2. This is in advance of encrypting the Base and finally the summit systems.
