Community Interactions, Meetings and Workshops

A DM all-hands meeting was held virtually Aug 5. Middleware and general developer topics were presented as well as a general management update on project status and transition to operations.

DM supported the Project and Community Workshop Aug 9-13, organized and/or chaired sessions on Alert Brokers, Timeseries Variability Features, Low Surface Brightness Astronomy with LSST, Rubin and Satellite Constellations, Anti-racism workshop, DM Science Pipelines, Coffee with the RSP developers, RSP developer meetup.

Technical Progress

Science platform was deployed on the Tucson Test Stand. This facility is required to be up before we can move the NCSA test stand to Chile.

Released rubin-env 0.7.0, including PanDA workflow system packages. Performance of the Data Butler was improved, particularly the new “execution butler” that eliminates database queries during jobs.

A proof-of-concept alert database was implemented and tested, A coaddition task that uses an online algorithm to accumulate images one by one was added to the science pipelines.

A HIPS compatible HPX SkyWcs object to enable warping coadds into the HPX projection used for HIPS viewing. This is the first step in providing HIPS tiles for both the EPO and DM Portal sky viewers.

The backup link between La Serena and Santiago has been tested at its full capacity (40gb), completing the diverse path milestones for this part of the network. The base datacenter has been officially received by AURA COS marking completion of construction for the center.
