The Rubin Observatory Community Engagement Team (CET) is currently in the early stages of preparing a model for community engagement and support for science with the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST).
The CET recognizes that the Rubin community has a deep well of experience in both providing and receiving support from astronomical facilities for user science, and that it would be to the benefit of all to leverage this experience in our plans.
Therefore, the CET invites all interested people to provide early-stage input to our model by participating in one (or more) of the informal discussion sessions described below. Students are especially encouraged to attend.
Agenda for All Discussion Sessions
- First, a ~10 minute summary of the CET’s high-level plans for community engagement, as first presented at the Rubin 2020 Project and Community Workshop.
- Then, an open discussion in which participants will be encouraged to share their past experiences, current activities, and future expectations regarding community engagement and support for science.
All five discussions in this series will follow the above agenda. People are welcome to participate in multiple sessions if they so desire. Everyone is also welcome to join and just listen in to the conversation.

Sesión de discusión abierta con traducción al Español

Asynchronous Participation
There are several options for people who are interested in this discussion series but unable to attend any sessions. The first 10 minutes (the summary portion) of the bilingual session on Tue Dec 1 will be recorded and made available (but the other sessions will not be recorded). The CET will also provide a written summary of the discussions at the end of the series. Topics for asynchronous discussion about community engagement may be raised at any time in this Community Forum. Feel free to start a new topic in the Science category, or to post a reply to this topic.
