Not sure if this is the right place for this. In one of the Organising Committee meetings we discussed having an LSST 101, need a lead for this and ideas on content.
It would be really useful to have a session which wasn’t (just) targeted at complete newcomers, but which helped existing project members to understand and engage with the work which is happening in subsystems which aren’t their own. We will (I imagine) get the regular 30–60 minute “current status” presentations from the subsystem leads, but it’s a long way from there to getting a feeling for ongoing work, long term challenges, and what members of other subsystems are actually doing on a day-to-day basis. Being better oriented in this respect would likely help folks engage more productively with other subsystems throughout the meeting.
