Given we’re in February now, would it be possible to get the baseline cadence simulation with an April 1 and May 1 start date to better understand scenarios for what could be observable/what sky could have sufficient observations for templates and what part of the sky would be covered by the survey? It would help for the SSSC to figure out realistic expectations for achievable science in the first 6 months of the LSST. Thanks.

Hi Meg,
Your question is very reasonable and we’re working to find some useful answers for you.
I think the path forward that has been suggested by the project is that we work on some potential simulations for year one (which will be made available), but wait for an official new baseline for a little longer.
We’re still pretty actively figuring out what year one might look like in terms of performance on sky.
The creation of templates is another wrinkle on top of that, in that we are also working on understanding the actual translation of acquired images → templates and what the requirements are (our template metrics are likely still too optimistic).
