Dear all,
As we put in place the policies and procedures we will need as an operating observatory, we’ve been revisiting the question of what values does, or should, Rubin Observatory uphold. That is, when working together, what do we, the Rubin community, value?
A values statement binds the members of an organization in an implicit agreement to uphold those values, and underpins all of the organization’s policies - and since some of those policies affect the whole LSST Science Community, it’s important for all of you to get a chance to weigh in on the above question and help compose a values statement for Rubin.
Please take a few minutes to look at the draft values statement in the community comment form at this link , which explains how we came up with this as a starting point. Our hope is that the result resonates with you, either because you recognize your observatory in it, or because it somehow captures the spirit of the observatory you want to see.
