I’m interested in NEOs that are newly discovered and only briefly observable. When a new two-observation tracklet is identified that cannot be linked to any known object, will that tracklet be sent to the MPC/NEOCP immediately (or the following day during processing), or will it be held internally until any additional matching tracklets are collected in the following days/weeks?
The last info I’ve been able to find about this is in the 2020 ‘Proposed Modifications to Solar System Processing and Data Products’, which states that the changing to HelioLINC will “open the possibility of reporting all tracklets to the NEOCP,” but I haven’t come across anything that states whether this has actually been implemented.
