For purposes of research on exoplanets, we know that cadence is important. Since Deep Dive observations will provide an environment more similar to what is normally used for exoplanet observations than the Wide Field, will we be able to access simulated Deep Dive data for test purposes? In the production world of LSST, will there be an obvious distinction in the Deep Dive observations to distinguish them from the Wide Field observations?
Hi Suber,
Thanks for your question. I assume by Deep Dive data you are referring to the Deep Drilling Fields?
To answer your first question, the Data Preview 0 (what is currently available) is the last simulated data set, and does not include the Deep Drilling Fields.
You can learn more about Data Management for LSST Special programs in DM-065, but a distinction between the Wide Field observations and the Deep Drilling Fields would be the observation strategy, which includes cadence as you mentioned. The Deep Drilling Fields will cover a smaller area (5 fields) and will have more visits over the duration of the survey.
