I have used data extracted from the TRILEGAL sim of LSST data that was documented by Tio et al (2022). The Astro Lab page suggests that for acknowledgements, " Please refer to the Rubin Observatory citations page on how to cite usage of the LSST SIM data." I could find no mention of how to acknowledge the sim on the Rubin site. Can you point me to the right place?
Hi @sdcorle1, thanks for this question. I don’t have the answer right away, but for Rubin simulations, it might be appropriate to cite some of the software mentioned on the Simulations page. Could you link me to the AstroLab page that has the suggestion?
Thanks @sdcorle1. I’m working to update the rubinobservatory.org pages with this information, but in the meantime, the package to cite is now called rubin_sim
. It’s documentation is at rubin-sim.lsst.io, and the citation for it can be found in it’s GitHub repo’s readme file, and it is:
Sorry that I missed your reply several weeks ago. I looked at rubin_sim and the readme file but I couldn’t find anything that looks like lsst_sim.simdr2 (Astro Data Lab - LSST SIM) . The main modules that are listed in the rubin_sim readme include opsim but not the TRILEGAL sim described by Tio et al (2022). For now, I am including the general acknowledgements for both Rubin / LSST and Noirlab in my paper. Any further suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reporting back @sdcorle1 – good to know that the rubin_sim
package is maybe not the new appropriate reference for the TRILEGAL data from LSST SIM, like I thought. Since I’m not entirely sure what is, I’ve created an internal work ticket (SP-2541) for Rubin staff to follow-up and we’ll report back within a few weeks.
