Hi folks. I registered on RSP back in 2024 and had my account approved etc but when I try to login now, it asks me to register again and of course there’s an issue because there’s already an account with my username (my own presumably). Can anyone help? Username is mlochner and it should be registered through my uwc.ac.za email address.

I can see that there are currently two accounts for you in the RSP. One is already approved and uses University of the Western Cape as your identity provider. The other was just created today, is not listed as approved yet, and uses ORCID as the identity provider. Both accounts use your @uwc.ac.za email address.
Recommended action is to confirm you can log in to the RSP by selecting “University of the Western Cape” as your identity provider. Then let me know, and I can expunge the new secondary account using ORCID, and you can then link your ORCID as a secondary identity to your existing account.

This is very strange, I could have sworn I saw a different page which only had google, orcid etc as login options. I think I would have clicked UWC if I saw it. Maybe I imagined it… well it works today with the University of the Western Cape as identity provider.

Hi Michelle, thanks for confirming, and no worries this is not an uncommon situation. I’ve expunged the secondary account so that you can link your ORCID identity to your existing account, and sign in with either in the future. I’m going to mark this topic solved but please don’t hesitate to open a new topic for new issues, anytime.
