The Rubin Observatory welcomes applications from scientists and students from across the Rubin data rights holders community – including members of International Program teams with in-kind contributions still in the proposal stage – for one of up to 300 Rubin Science Platform accounts at the Interim Data Facility, where Data Preview 0 (DP0) will be released at the end of June 2021.
Individuals who submit an application by April 30 2021 will receive notification about whether they have been selected as a “DP0 delegate” by May 31 2021. If the applications are oversubscribed, a diversity-based algorithmic process will be used to select DP0 delegates. The application form has been designed to collect the necessary information to enable this algorithmic process.
Please note that this is not the only opportunity to apply for DP0. As explained in Section 2.6 of RTN-004, 25% of the 300 accounts will be reserved for a second call for applications in January 2022, in advance of the DP0.2 data release at the end of March 2022.
