Deploying Rubin env 11

I am excited to announce that we are rolling out another significant upgrade to our build infrastructure. This week, we will transition to the rubin-env 11.0.0 conda-forge metapackage. We will be rolling this out today (Tuesday) with updates to lsstsw and Jenkins. If tonight’s daily completes successfully we will aim for the first weekly with the new env to be weekly 38 (this Wednesday night). This update will be reflected in the following tags:

  • Weekly: w_2025_38
  • Daily: d_2025_09_17

Key Enhancements:

  • Upgraded conda testing platform from CentOS 7 to AlmaLinux 9
  • Added rust compiler to Rubin Env

New Package Additions:

  • documenteer > 2 (moved from rubin-env-developer to rubin-env to support new sphinxutils package that will allow the pipelines.lsst.io documentation to be updated with new features.)
  • pz-rail-bpz
  • pyfftw
  • ipython_genutils (added to rubin-env-rsp)

Notable Dependency Updates:

  • starlink-ast v9.2.14
  • pyarrow 20
  • treegp 1.4
  • deepdiff 8.5

Please note that starting this week, our testing platform will default to using rubin-env 11.0.0.
I would like to express my gratitude to the entire Build Engineering team (Tim Jenness, KT Lim, Matthias Wittgen, Arianna Ranabhat) for their hard work and dedication in making this upgrade possible. Special thanks to the package maintainers and contributors for their efforts in updating and adding new packages to enhance our software stack.
