Our departmental email server at Cornell was damaged over two weeks ago; it has still not been restored. I’m switching all of my academic email from our departmental address to Cornell’s main NetID-based address. Email sent to my previous address will just bounce.
I’ve managed to change my email address here on Community, and for email lists on lists.lsst.org. RSP access is fine since it validates via Cornell. But two other resources are stumping me.
I can’t figure out how to change my email address for the LSST-DA Slack workspace. In the app, in my profile, the address has a padlock icon next to it, saying it is provided by the account manager. Slack’s own instructions say to use the browser interface to change one’s email address, but I cannot login with a browser because it uses a link sent to the current email address for validation.
Also, I’ve had an account on project.lsst.org that I’ve used in the past for access to the CDB and Docushare documents. I haven’t used that in a while. I thought it might be the proper way to change my email address for LSST purposes, but my previous credentials are not accepted there. But maybe those accounts are deprecated.
Hi @TomLoredo, thanks for reporting, I can help with that.
LSST-DA Slack – As Forum admin, I took your new email address from your Forum account and asked the LSST-DA Slack admins to update your Slack account accordingly. I expect that, assuming they can, this will trigger some kind of notification to your new email address. If you don’t hear, report back. And if I hear otherwise, I’ll report back.
project.lsst.org – Use of the lsst.org site is being phased out in general, probably you won’t need it again (but let me know if, e.g., there’s a document that is inaccessible). Unless you’re having trouble accessing your account for the upcoming Rubin Community Workshop 2026, at project.lsst.org/meetings/rubin2026? If so let me know, I can help arrange a fix there.
Thanks for the quick help re: Slack! I’ll keep an eye out for a notification email.
Thanks for the clarification re: project.lsst.org. I was guessing that was deprecated. I’ve used the CDB there to make SC member network diagrams showing how the ISSC was linked to other SCs. But I think that was already becoming unreliable years ago, since at least some SCs were maintaining membership databases separate from the CDB. For all I know, there is no CDB anymore…
Finally, thanks for the reminder about the RCW 2026 account. I just checked, and thankfully I used my Cornell NetID account when I set that up.
The timing of this has been a bit heartbreaking. My LSST list notifications and Slack notifications were all going to the former Astro dept. address—and bouncing. So after being involved with LSST since founding the ISSC in 2009, I ended up missing the announcements of the start of the survey. I found out about it the next day via the NY Times article on it! 8-( I should have been proactive about checking on it. We were told repeatedly the server was about to be restored, but it still hasn’t happened. Alas.
