I’m looking through the lsst_sim.simdr2_binary simulated catalog described in Dal Tio et al 2022 and am finding that a significant number of binary systems have either the c2_kw or c2_label column set to -32768. This value doesn’t seem to appear in the c1_kw or c1_label columns.
What are these objects? All other labels appear to be consistent with those indicated in the tables of the paper and the descriptions in Data Lab.
Hi Melanie – That simulated catalog is produced by the TRILEGAL code, with no involvement by the Rubin/LSST Project team, so I’m not sure we can provide much advice. I would suggest reaching out to the TRILEGAL team (perhaps the lead author of the paper you referenced?). It’s also possible that those values are due to a data type error when ingesting the tables at NOIRLab’s DataLab, so you could also ask in their help forum.
