Invitation to Join: “Third Thursday” DP0 Office Hours for APAC and EMEA Timezones

The Rubin Community Engagement team (CET) will host a new series of “Third Thursday” sessions for DP0 delegates on April 21, May 19, June 16, and July 21.

Everyone is welcome to join these sessions.

Connection Info: ls.st/dp0-events

Goals – As most Rubin staff reside in the Americas, providing worldwide synchronous support is logistically challenging and unsustainable long-term. The goals of reviving the Third Thursdays sessions are to (1) seed expertise at all longitudes and (2) identify and support delegates to lead future live DP0-related sessions in the APAC and EMEA time zones.

Agendas – Generally, there is no set agenda for these sessions unless requested by delegates in advance (contact @MelissaGraham). Delegates could discuss their DP0-related analysis, review the DP0 RSP tutorials together, collaborate on DP0-related science, or get support from Rubin staff, as needed. The sessions on April 21 will start with a roundtable of short introductions for all attendees, then there will be a brief introduction to the Rubin Science Platform’s Notebook and Portal aspects (also available in this recorded session from 2021), and then will end with open Q&A.

DP0 Third Thursday Schedule

There will be two sessions per “Third Thursday”, at UTC 04:00 and 14:00, in order to serve the DP0 delegates in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) time zones. Note that since northern regions would be on daylight savings by April 21, and southern regions on standard time, the quoted times below reflect that.

DP0-APAC: 04:00 UTC

  • 21:00 -1 day Pacific Daylight Time (the Wednesday night before)
  • 09:30 India Standard Time
  • 14:00 Australian Eastern Standard Time

DP0-EMEA: 14:00 UTC

  • 07:00 Pacific Daylight Time
  • 16:00 Central European Summer Time
  • 17:00 Eastern European Summer Time

To access your account’s profile and preferences, first click your profile picture in the circle at upper right. In the pop-up window, click on the top-right option of a :bust_in_silhouette: to access your account options. Then click on the :gear: preferences option to navigate to your account preferences. In the left-most menu, choose ‘profile’, and scroll down to Timezone.

DP0-AMER: Everyone, everywhere, is welcome to attend any of these “Third Thursday” sessions and/or the Delegate Assemblies and Stack Club sessions in the DP0-AMER timezone on Fridays at 09:00 Pacific (currently PDT, so 16:00 UTC).

Asynchronous support for DP0 by Rubin staff will continue to be available via the Rubin Community Forum. Any and all DP0-related inquiries are encouraged to be posted as new topics in the “Data Preview 0” category. For now and in the future, the CET will do its best to arrange for Rubin staff presence at meetings by request, e.g., when particular expertise is needed (contact @MelissaGraham).
