If you’re submitting an abstract for the 249th American Astronomical Society meeting in January 2027, and your work uses Rubin data products derived from LSSTCam observations (i.e., from Data Preview 2 or the alert stream), please consider submitting your abstract to the special session on Rubin science. There will be both an oral and an iPoster session (note that AAS sessions are in-person).
How to submit: Follow the AAS’s instructions for abstract submission. On Step 3, the “Abstract Questions” page, choose the options shown below. Abstracts that aren’t selected for the special session are returned to the general pool to be scheduled in regular oral or iPoster sessions.

Special session description: In July 2026, the Rubin Observatory released its first dataset based on images from the 3200-megapixel LSST Camera mounted on Simonyi Survey Telescope as “Data Preview 2” (dp2.lsst.io). Earlier, in February 2026, time-domain alerts from LSSTCam images started flowing from Rubin to brokers (prompt-products.lsst.io). This session will be a mix of invited and contributed talks that cover the performance of the camera and the data processing pipelines, and the first science results generated by these novel datasets.
