Data Access and Analysis with the NSF-DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory
This workshop is for scientists and students looking to get started or improve their skills with data access and analysis for the NSF-DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory and its Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST). This full-day workshop will be run by the Rubin Community Science team (CST), and will start with a series of presentations and hands-on tutorials that cover the wide variety of available data products, services, and tools available via the Rubin Science Platform (RSP). The afternoon will progress into pair/group topical breakouts with the option for attendees to start their own analyses with support from Rubin staff. Scientists and students interested in all astronomical fields are welcome, e.g., time-domain, cosmology, resolved stellar populations, moving objects, galaxies and AGN, strong lensing, and so on. The only prerequisites are an interest in LSST data and an RSP account (get one by following the instructions at ls.st/rsp-signup).
How to enroll: During registration, look for the option to add the workshop for $35 (the fee is used by the AAS to offset the A/V and room costs for the day). Note that this full-day workshop is on Sunday January 10th, the day before the AAS begins, so be sure to make your travel arrangements accordingly. The room assignment will appear in the AAS agenda. Space is limited, and filled up last year, so register soon if you’re interested.
