The “Once in a Rubin Gem” Director’s Discretionary Time program is officially live as of July 6, 2026! This community-led initiative features a zero-proprietary period and focuses on the “unknown unknowns” discovered by the NSF–DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory’s Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST). The program has rapid target of opportunity (rToO) status and will be executed as soon as possible.
