Dear all,
I hope you will join us for the December LINCC Tech Talk session that will take place on Thursday, December 11, at 10am PT on Zoom (https://ls.st/lincc-talks ). We will hear about Solar System follow-up coordination by Carrie Holt.
Title: Follow-up Coordination for the Solar System Community in the Rubin Era using FOMO
Abstract: Rubin Observatory and LSST will dramatically increase the number of discovered solar system objects, creating a major challenge for follow-up coordination. FOMO (Follow-up Observations of Moving Objects) is a centralized platform designed to streamline this process. Built using the TOM Toolkit, FOMO provides a single reference point for tracking targets, submitting follow-up requests, and monitoring observation statuses across facilities. It supports automated ingestion from brokers and the MPC, real-time observatory status updates, and diverse observation types. FOMO will integrate with robotic telescope resources such as the LCO Network and larger facilities through AEON. The FOMO platform will enable the solar system community to effectively prioritize efforts, minimize duplication, and make the most of limited follow-up resources. In this talk, I will give an overview of the system and the current status of development.
LINCC Tech Talks are held on the second Thursday of every month. Events are also advertised at our web page and also provided in calendar form ; and the #lincc-tech-talks LSSTC Slack channel is always available for discussions before, during, and after the talks.
