Mixed accounts - login issue

Hi,
I have an account under my institutional email (tahumada@caltech.edu) and linked to my github (tahumada, tfahumada94@gmail.com)

Last time I logged in was in 2023, and now it does not seem to let me see anything. I get

‘You do not have any current roles. If your request for enrollment is still being processed, you will not be able to login until it is approved. Please contact an administrator for assistance.’

Could you help me sort this out?

Hi @tahumada, thanks for posting.

In the system I can see three accounts associated with your name:

  • An account marked “active” is from 2023 uses UMD as the identity provider and an @umd.edu email.
  • An account marked “duplicate” from 2023 that uses both GitHub and CalTech as the identity providers, and gmail and caltech emails.
  • A new pending account started July 2 that uses ORCID as the identity provider, but no email associated with it.

To start, could you confirm which identity providers lead to the login error, and whether you no longer have access to any of them?

Answering your questions:

  • I do not have access to the @umd.edu email anymore

  • The Github and CalTech accounts show the same error message

  • I just realized about the ORCID account, I completed the registration and now it’s pending validation.

Thanks for confirming that you no longer have access to UMD as an identity provider (UID tahumada, marked as active), and want to proceed with GitHub and CalTech as your identity providers (no UID set, marked as duplicate).

My apologies I should have said to not bother with the ORICD account (UID tfahumada, petition pending) because we will most likely just expunge it so you can add ORCID as an additional identity on your existing account. Since it is a new user name, even if we approved the ORCID petition and you logged in, anything in your old home directory for UID tahumada would not be accessible to new UID tfahumada.

I’m not sure what needs fixing in order for you to be able to log in with GitHub/CalTech, but I will bring this to the attention of our RSP tech team.

Thanks Melissa! It makes sense that all accounts go to the same username. I hope this get resolved! I am eager to play with Rubin data!

So we have three accounts and three problems :slight_smile:

  • The UMD identity one is fine, but you have lost access to it
  • The ORCID one has not been approved
  • The GIthub one has had an incomplete onboard (it looks like the onboarding flow was never completed as a username has not been selected, or else it was marked as duplicate and did not proceed, I can’t quite tell)

So:

  1. I am going to expunge all three accounts.
  2. Start again using your Caltech account. Pick tahumada as your username
  3. Complete your onboarding flow and ensure you have access to the platform
  4. After that, see Linking additional identities — Rubin Science Platform on how to link your Github identity to your now-active Caltech account.

It doesn’t look like you have any non-stock files from 2023 but we have taken a copy in case you need to recover them once you have signed on with your new account.

Please reply to this thread when you have re-applied and we will fast-track your petition.

You should have your approval. Finish any remaining enrollment flow and check in to let us know everything is fine.
