PSF models availability in data releases

Hi. I am interested to know whether and how the PSF models will be provided in data releases. Will they be bundled up in files per patch or whatever? Do they exist in the current DP0.2 release as a separate file?
Thanks

Hi @nsevilla, thanks for this question.

In short – yes the PSF models are “bundled up in files per patch”, or in other words, can be accessed as a property of the calexp or deepCoadd images that are retrieved via the butler. Also yes, this image meta data does exist in the current DP0.2 release (although not exactly as a separate file).

One of the best resources for learning about PSF models with the DP0.2 data set are the two DP0.2 Jupyter notebook tutorials on the PSF data products:

  • 12a. PSF Data Products: A demonstration of how to access calexp and deepCoadd PSF properties.
  • 12b. PSF Science Demo: Demonstration of the use of measured PSF properties in weak lensing analysis.

Perhaps you’re already aware but, just in case anyone else reading this is not: executable versions of the DP0.2 tutorial notebooks can be found in all RSP users’ home directories, in the notebooks/tutorial-notebooks/ folder. Alternatively, rendered versions can be browsed in the DP0.2 documentation.

If that answers your question please mark this reply post as the solution, thank you!
