Public data release of DP2 data (IDACs or else)

Hello! Are there any plans to make DP2 publicly available, for example via IDACs or another approach? (after the two years proprietary period)

Thanks once again

Hi @nsevilla, as described in the Rubin Data Policy, no access to public (including post-proprietary) data sets is provided by Rubin Observatory for individuals who do not have Rubin data rights (DPOL-302).

As far as I know, at least one in-kind contribution team expects to provide public access to future post-proprietary data releases (CADC) but the exact scope of which products, the timeline, and whether this includes Data Previews, is still being defined.

Thanks @MelissaGraham , I guess my question was in the sense of whether DP2 is confirmed as counting as a “data release” regarding what is covered by RDO-013 (so that it could be made public two years after release to data rights holders), or it was “forever” closed to Rubin participants given its special nature. But by your answer it seems implied that it is… just that the Project will not give that functionality to non data rights holders.

Oh thanks for clarifying! Yes, DP2 is a data release and RDO-013 applies.
