I am curious if there is a regularly updated timeline for the PPDB and Alert Stream? It is absolutely understood that timelines need to shift over time, but it would be good to be able to anticipate when data products will start to come online, and in what capacity (e.g. Alert Stream, but only in manually run bursts, PPDB but only some tables, etc.).
Thanks for raising this, Alec! We understand the eagerness to know when different pieces of the prompt products will come online. At present there isn’t a single continuously updated public timeline, since commissioning schedules evolve, but updates are shared here on the forum, in Rubin technical notes (like RTN-011 on Early Science; https://rtn-011.lsst.io/), and on the Rubin Data Products Alerts & Brokers page (Alerts and brokers | Rubin Observatory)
The best way to stay current is to “watch” the Data Products category here on the Community Forum and keep an eye on Rubin’s official announcements. If you have a particular science use case in mind, sharing it here can also help the team prioritize which features to exercise first.
RTN-011 was updated last May and still includes DR1 as the 6-month data release. So it’s very much in need of an update for those applying for grant funding over the next several months.
