Question about the proposed contents of DP2

Thanks for all the productive and informative discussions at the RCW. It’s really great to see how close the Observatory is to starting the LSST, which is an incredible feat. Given all the discussions about the changes to the early science release schedule (DP2, 6 months of LSST data, and year 1 LSST data), what is the bare minimum unit of data that would be included in DP2 in the revised scenario? For DP2 (assuming no augmentation just the bare minimum deliverable starting point), would that be comprised of LSSTCam commissioning observations and the SV (science validation) survey?

Hi Meg

The minimum would be all science-grade data taken with LSSTCam during commissioning. This would include SV data and any other data taken during any LSSTCam commissioning activities. “Science -grade” simply means that we won’t include engineering data, e.g donut images, out of focus images, etc.

See section 3, RTN-011: " Data Preview 2 (DP2): Based on a full reprocessing of all science-grade data taken with LSSTCam during commissioning."
