RCW 2026: forms to submit abstracts, suggest session topics, or volunteer to chair are open early

A wider call for abstracts for talks and posters, suggestions for breakout topics, and volunteer session chairs for RCW 2026 will go out when registration opens (~mid-March), but the forms are ready early.

Submit a session suggestion and/or volunteer to chair: session submission form

Submit an abstract for an in-person or virtual talk, or an in-person poster: abstract submission form

Virtual posters do not require advance abstract submission. See the Rubin Research Bytes instructions

The deadline is Fri Apr 24, but forms will stay open for late abstracts if space is undersubscribed.

Questions are welcome in this topic thread or sent to @MelissaGraham.

Breakout sessions

Breakout session topics are either derived from community suggestions, or generated to accommodate contributed talks. Breakout sessions are chaired by volunteers who plan the agenda and run the session. Breakouts can be a mix of presentations, discussions, panels, software demos, tutorials, etc.

Session chairs

Chairs are invited and supported by the SOC to run the breakout sessions. Chairs plan the breakout agenda in advance: they accommodate any contributed talks assigned to the session by the SOC and decide how the remaining time is spent (e.g., invited talks, panels, tutorials).

Contributed talks

Abstracts will be reviewed and ranked by the SOC, and scheduled in a breakout session (as time allows). Talks can be given in-person or virtually, but the SOC will not initially schedule more than ~50% virtual talks per session. Registration is required to present a talk.

Contributed posters

Abstract submission is only required for in-person posters. Posters will be up for two days, in either the Mon+Tue or the Wed+Thu session. Posters should be portrait layout, no larger than 36" wide and 44" high. Student poster-presenters will be invited to give a ~30-second “flash talk” during a morning plenary. Registration is required for in-person poster presenters.
