I see that the Comet Catchers citizen science project is now showing cutouts from the 3I/ATLAS from LSSTCam that are in the accepted Chandler et al (2026).
“Important Notes: We have LSSTCam images! And they feature the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS!! This first set will appear as part of the training images, and you’ll get a note when you see it! All other Rubin images are from the NSF-DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory’s Data Preview 1 (DP1) dataset, using the special commissioning camera, which is just a small taste of what’s to come”
My understanding is that citizen science projects should be serving data that are available to data rights holders so that some form of these images should be available also to the community. I ask that the CST please help facilitate getting these observations out to the community/data rights holders.
Thanks,
