Dear Rubin Observatory Project & Community,
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s Rubin Observatory Project & Community Workshop (PCW) planned for August 11-14 is cancelled. The PCW has been an annual opportunity for the Project Team and Community to gather together in August for a week of detailed engagements, discussions, and collaboration. This year we would have embraced our new name, and we had plans to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the 2010 Decadal Survey ranking LSST number one as the highest priority in ground based astronomy. We will now plan to celebrate next year during the week of August 8th (second week of August), 2021 at the Ritz Carlton in Tucson!
The Project and Operations teams are looking at alternative opportunities to engage with the community during that week in August, 2020. A virtual town hall is planned for that week to give an update and provide a space for interaction. Various other options for a community-oriented agenda are being considered. We will provide further updates soon.
