Thank you for this Zoom call, and for answering my question about single detections. I wasn’t prepared to speak, but I would like to leave a message here.
I first read about Rubin Observatory in the news four months ago. Immediately I decided to see how it works. I was amazed by the scale of the astronomical ecosystem you have built together with scientists from around the world.
To me, Rubin is much more than just another large telescope. It is a door into science and our Universe, open to everyone. Behind that door is an incredibly well-designed system that allowed someone like me to go from simply reading about Rubin Observatory to building a real project using the public alert stream in just a few months.
All it took was curiosity and a laptop. Everything else was already there: the telescope, the public alert stream, brokers, clear documentation, learning sessions, a welcoming community, science collaborations, and this forum where both enthusiasts and professionals are always willing to help.
That is an extraordinary achievement, and I wanted to thank you and the entire Rubin team for making it possible.
And, of course, I wish you the best of luck with your main goal - understanding dark matter and dark energy. With everything in place, I believe a new discovery will come soon.
