Source catalog in the PPDB?

From this page, am I correct to assume a Source catalog will be in the prompt products database? Will this be the same schema as the Source catalog in the data releases? If it is different, do you know when we will have an idea what that schema will be? I remember talk of it being in the PPDB, but it is not currently in the sdm-schema site: https://sdm-schemas.lsst.io/ppdb.html

Thanks!

Hi @carrieholt, thanks for this question.

Yes, there will be “direct source” tables released as a prompt product, as a temporary measure until Data Release 1 (DR1). Yes it would have a similar schema to the source catalogs of the data releases. No it will not be in the PPDB though, as it is a separate, special, temporary table. The direct source tables will accompany the prompt-processed visit images, when these images are released after the 80-hour embargo.

Further details on the direct source table are available in the Early Science tech note RTN-011 (Section 4.2 of v8). New information about the timescales for the release of prompt-processed visit images and their accompanying source tables will be available in v9 of that RTN very soon, and are already reflected at Early Science Program | Rubin Observatory.

okay, awesome. thank you!

I am specifically wondering if the multi-aperture photometry will still be in that catalog? I know it is in the DR schema here.

AFAIK the plan is to create catalogs “similar to the Source catalogs that will be part of future Data Releases” (Section 4.2 of RTN-011), so the tentative answer is yes.
