Hi
I am trying to set up an account in order to participate in the Data Academy next week. I am following the steps provided and initially used Orchid to try to get an account but encountered the attached error message. I subsequently tried using my GitHub account as my authenticator and ran into the same problem. Melissa Graham checked for me and said
“I can see an account has been started with ORCID as your identity provider and using your dkw@scsu.edu email address. It looks like your email has not yet been confirmed so please check your spam folder for that, first?”
There is nothing in my spam folder.

Let me edit this post to add more information that may be helpful in trouble shooting.
I am following the steps to set up a new account and
I am able to get Step 4 in the process and the Self Signup With Approval Page pops up (see below):
Note: I do not know if this matters or not but I had an account back in 2022 when I did some of the tutorials for DP0. I note in the instructions for setting up the new account it states in Step 3
• “At this point the RSP will detect that you do not already have an established account and start the onboarding flow.
Is my previous account from 2022 the problem? I have not used it since, I believe August 2022.
Hi @dkw , I can see your petition for a new account was at the email confirmation stage (step 6 of the process). I have resent the confirmation email to your scsu.edu address.
Note above, I never was permitted to fill in a form in step 5. Therefore, if step 6 is looking for my dkw@scsu.edu email, that was from ORCID, it was not from a completed form in Step 5.
Thanks Don. I can see now your account does show as having the email verified, so it did work. I’m not sure how to get you back to a step where you can choose a user name, and have your petition advance, but I’ll bring it to the attention of our technical team. Thanks again for your patience.
@dkw I was checking in on your account status and it seems to still say “Pending Confirmation” and I suspect the email verification might not have worked after all. Can you confirm whether you’ve been able to log in? If not I suspect we should expunge this account and have you try again, from the start.
Hi @dkw, I have expunged the first attempt at an RSP account so that you can start over. It looked like a username was never set (step 7) so it never progressed to a stage where I could approve the request. The workflow is supposed to resume upon your return to the RSP, but it seems like it did not, or you would have been prompted to complete the process.
Our technical team recommends to do the process step-by-step with the video and let us know if and when anything deviates from the video.
Thank you Melissa, it worked this time. I was able to proceed with all of the steps and authorization is pending.
Thanks to you and your team for your help
