I would like to find out more about plans to estimate parallaxes and proper motions. I have seen the document DMTN-266 (Astrometric Calibration in the LSST Pipeline) which outlines the astrometric models that can be fit as part of the pipeline processing. But to which objects will these models be applied in order to estimate parallaxes and proper motions, and on what timescale? I don’t suppose all ~20 billion objects will be fit in this way (at least not initially): there is presumably some pre-selection. I’d be grateful if someone could point me to other documents - or to specific people - where I can find out more.

Thank you @bailer-jones for your question.
We are aiming to deliver proper motions and parallaxes for isolated point sources in DP2. Catalog-wide solutions for all Object entries are not a near-term deliverable, but are expected to be available after a few years of the survey. When available, these parameters will be released on the standard Data Release cadence, with precision improving as the time baseline grows.
